Did You Know?
- •The name translates from Gaelic as 'Hill of the Hares.' Mountain hares are frequently spotted on its slopes, their white winter coats contrasting sharply against the dark heather and peat hags during the colder months.
- •Starting from the car park at the head of the Lochan na Lairige, walkers begin their ascent at an elevation of nearly 550 metres. This makes it one of the most straightforward Corbetts to summit, requiring only 230 metres of actual climbing.
- •The summit offers a unique perspective on the Ben Lawers National Nature Reserve; while most visitors focus on the Munros, this hill looks directly across the pass to the steep, craggy profiles of Meall Corranaich and Beinn Ghlas.
- •It is often treated as a 'consolation prize' for those arriving at the Lawers car park only to find the higher summits swallowed by the clouds, though the notoriously boggy plateau ensures your boots will be just as wet.
