About Ceann Garbh
Tucked away in the Breadalbane hills, this rocky Munro Top forms a rugged high point on the celebrated Tarmachan Ridge. Often bypassed by those focused only on the main summit, it offers a dramatic perspective over the crags of Meall Garbh towards the sparkling waters of Loch Tay and the Lawers range.

Did You Know?
- •The name derives from the Gaelic 'Ceann Garbh', meaning 'Rough Head', a fitting description for the shattered schist and steep, bouldery slopes that define this section of the ridge.
- •It is almost exclusively climbed as part of the Tarmachan Ridge traverse, located east of the main summit and overlooking the steep drop into the corrie of Coire nan Tarmachan.
- •The summit offers an exceptional profile view of the Ben Lawers range, looking directly across the Lochan na Lairige reservoir to the western slopes of Beinn Ghlas.
- •It is a peak that many walkers cross without realizing they have ticked a Munro Top, as the main ridge path skirts within yards of the cairn during the transition to the more technical scrambles further west.
