What happened to the village that was under Haweswater?

Mardale Green was demolished between 1935-1940 and flooded to create the reservoir. The church was dismantled, bodies from the graveyard were relocated, and every building including the Dun Bull Inn was knocked down before the valley was flooded.

Can you still see the drowned village at Haweswater?

Sometimes. When water levels drop during droughts, you can see the remains of walls, the old packhorse bridge, and field boundaries. It happened notably in 1984 and 1995, but the full village site hasn't been exposed since then.
