Bassenthwaite Lake: The Only Lake in the Lake District

Of the sixteen major bodies of water in the Lake District, fifteen are either meres, waters, or tarns. Bassenthwaite Lake is the sole exception, and even then, it's only been called that since mapmakers got involved in the 19th century.
