How long is the walk to Stickle Tarn?

The National Trust's out-and-back trail from Stickle Ghyll car park is 1.9 miles (3.04km) in total and is estimated at about two hours. It is graded challenging, with a steep stone path and short easy scrambling sections.

Is Jack's Rake suitable for beginners?

Do not assume so because it is Grade 1. The BMC calls Jack's Rake an accident black spot: it is steep and exposed, with wet, polished or loose rock, and it has seen fatalities. Build scrambling skills first or go with a competent experienced person.

Can you reach Pavey Ark without climbing Jack's Rake?

Yes. Mapped walking routes approach the summit around the north and west of the crag. They still cross steep mountain terrain, so use a current map, check the forecast and choose a route suited to your experience.
