How many Synges are there in the Lake District?

There are 670 Synges in total. This includes distinct summits and tops across the Lake District National Park, significantly more than the 214 Wainwrights.

What's the easiest Synge to start with as a beginner?

Castle Crag is the perfect starting point. At 290m, it's the lowest Synge on the list, but it's a proper miniature mountain with steep climbs through old slate spoil heaps and great views from the Jaws of Borrowdale.

Do I need to be a rock climber to complete all the Synges?

For most, no: good navigation and stamina for rough terrain are enough. Pillar Rock is an exposed rock climb, but the LDWA accepts completion without it if the other 669 Synges have been climbed.
