What's the difference between the Clems and other hill lists like the Munros?

The Clems are a fixed historical list based on one of two tests: 100m of ascent all round or—if that test fails—at least 5km walking distance from any higher point on neighbouring hills. Unlike the Munros, they have no minimum height.

Do I need to be an experienced mountaineer to walk the Clems?

Difficulty is unrelated to whether a hill is a Clem. Some have straightforward paths, while others involve steep, boggy or pathless terrain and need suitable clothing, footwear and navigation skills. Check the route, conditions and legal access for each hill.

How many hills are on the Clems list?

There are 1,298 summits on the Clems list. The highest is Snowdon / Yr Wyddfa at 1,085m, while the lowest listed height is 102m, shared by Pigg’s Grave and Saxby Wold.
