There are 407 entries because the Bridges are the fixed list published by George Bridge in 1973. It was compiled around 2,000 feet of height and 50 feet of separation, but it is not revised when modern measurements change.

Is Crib Goch actually dangerous or is that exaggerated?

Yes. Crib Goch is an exposed Grade 1 scramble with a 500-metre knife-edge ridge and no easy escape. Eryri National Park says it is only suitable for experienced mountain walkers and is particularly serious in wind, rain, mist, snow or ice.

Did Calf Top really become a mountain because of 6 millimetres?

Calf Top’s recalculated 2016 height was 609.606m, six millimetres above 2,000 feet. That affected active classifications such as the Nuttalls and Hewitts, but Calf Top was not added to the fixed 1973 Bridges list.
