• •The name is derived from the Scottish Gaelic 'Stob Ghabhar', which translates to 'Peak of the Goats'. This likely refers to the presence of feral goats that favoured the mountain's steep, craggy eastern corries.
• •The mountain features its own 'Aonach Eagach' (notched ridge). While less infamous than the namesake ridge in Glencoe, this narrow arête offers a genuine sense of exposure and a fine scramble to the summit plateau.
