• •The name likely derives from the Gaelic 'lunnd' or 'lunndann', meaning 'little marsh', a reference to the numerous lochs and boggy hollows that originally surrounded the base of the hill before 19th-century agricultural drainage.
• •The nearby churchyard of Lundie, at the foot of the hill, contains the burial place of Admiral Adam Duncan, 1st Viscount Duncan, who famously defeated the Dutch fleet at the Battle of Camperdown in 1797.
