Carn an Tuairneir

Rising to 582 metres in the wild country between Glen Affric and Glen Moriston, this Dodd occupies remote territory in the heart of the Northwest Highlands. The ascent involves rough terrain typical of this thinly-walked region, where pathless navigation and heather slopes are the norm rather than exception.

• •The name derives from Scottish Gaelic 'Càrn an Tuairneir', meaning 'cairn of the turner' or 'cairn of the lathe worker', likely referring to a woodworker who once operated in the wooded glens below.
• •The hill stands in one of Scotland's least populated areas, positioned between two of the Highland's most celebrated glens yet seeing a fraction of their visitor numbers.
