Braid Cairn

Rising as a broad, heathery shoulder near Ballater, this high plateau top is often bypassed for its more famous neighbour, Mount Keen. Reaching 887.5m, it offers a quieter perspective over the rolling Angus Glens and the distinctive profile of Lochnagar from its stony, windswept summit.

• •It sits near the historic Mounth passes, ancient trackways that provided the primary routes for drovers and travellers crossing between the Dee Valley and the Angus Glens.
