Ben Reoch East Top

Sitting above the village of Tarbet in the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, this rugged Tump offers a quieter alternative to the more famous Arrochar Alps. Reaching 631 metres, it provides a superb vantage point for looking across the deep waters of Loch Lomond toward the iconic profile of Ben Lomond.

• •The name derives from the Scottish Gaelic Beinn Riabhach, which translates as the 'brindled' or 'grizzled' hill, likely a reference to the mottled appearance of its rocky and grassy slopes.
• •It is most commonly climbed as part of a ridge walk with its parent peak, Ben Reoch, starting from Tarbet or the shores of Loch Long, providing a less crowded perspective on the surrounding peaks.
• •From the summit, the view west is dominated by the jagged silhouettes of the Arrochar Alps, specifically the distinctive profile of The Cobbler and the bulk of Ben Narnain.
• •Despite sitting at the gateway to the Highlands, you are far more likely to share this summit with a stray sheep than the crowds of tourists who congregate at the Tarbet pier just below.
