While the ascent via Glen Lednock is straightforward, the top offers an expansive vista across the Lawers Range and the southern Highlands.

• •The name is derived from the Gaelic Beinn a' Chòinich, meaning 'Mossy Mountain.' This is an accurate description of the high, peat-rich plateau that characterizes the summit area, setting it apart from the rockier peaks of the west.
• •The hill is famous among walkers for its significant population of mountain hares. These animals are often seen darting across the upper slopes, and they provide a striking sight in winter when their coats turn white to match the snow on the plateau.
• •While the standard route from Glen Lednock follows a steady Land Rover track, the alternative approach from Glen Turret offers a more dramatic perspective. This longer route passes the Loch Turret reservoir and climbs the hill's steeper eastern flanks.
