• •The name Beinn Dearg Mòr translates from Gaelic as the 'Great Red Hill'. This refers to the ancient Torridonian sandstone that forms its massive, tiered ramparts, which take on a deep, rust-coloured glow during a Northwest Highland sunset.
• •It forms a celebrated partnership with its neighbour, Beinn Dearg Bheag. The two hills are separated by the high pass of Bealach na h-Eiginn, and together they create one of the most distinctive skylines in the Dundonnell wilderness.
• •The summit offers an unparalleled look at the remote Munros to the south, but the most arresting sight is the immediate view north across the Strath na Sealga to the fortress-like walls and jagged pinnacles of An Teallach.
