Littonslack Hill

Rising above the village of Litton, this modest limestone summit offers a quiet perspective on the White Peak’s plateau. Situated above the steep northern slopes of the Wye Valley, the grassy top provides clear views across the deep incision of Water-cum-Jolly Dale towards the Iron Age hillfort of Fin Cop.

• •The name likely derives from the Old English 'hlid-tun', meaning a farmstead on a slope, combined with the Old Norse 'slakki', referring to the shallow hollows or depressions found along the hillside.
• •The hill is often visited as part of a circular walk from Tideswell or Litton, frequently combined with a descent into the nearby Cressbrook Dale to view the distinctive limestone outcrop of Peter’s Stone.
