Beinn Bhreac

A modest summit in the eastern Highlands near the Moray Firth, rising to 511 metres above the farmland and forestry of Easter Ross. The hill claims Dodd and Tump status, reflecting its prominence in relatively low-lying terrain. Views from the top stretch across the surrounding coastal plain towards the Cromarty Firth and the higher ground inland.

• •The name Beinn Bhreac comes from Scottish Gaelic, meaning 'speckled mountain' or 'dappled mountain', likely describing the appearance of its slopes when patched with snow, heather, and grass at different seasons.
• •Not to be confused with its much loftier namesake in the Cairngorms, this Beinn Bhreac sits more than 400 metres lower and nearly 50 kilometres to the northeast, closer to the coast than the high plateau country.
