Beddugre Hill

Rising above the Ithon Valley in Powys, this grassy, rounded summit offers a quiet vantage point in the Radnorshire Hills. Characterised by open moorland and agricultural fringes, the ascent provides clear views across the rolling Mid Wales marches toward the heights of Beacon Hill and the Teme Valley.

• •The name Beddugre is Welsh in origin, with 'bedd' meaning grave; it is traditionally believed to be the burial place of a figure named Ugre, though it likely refers to an ancient tumulus or burial mound on the ridge.
• •From the triangulation pillar at the summit, walkers can look directly northeast across the A483 corridor to the expansive, heather-clad plateau of Beacon Hill.
• •As a Hump, the hill possesses at least 100 metres of prominence, ensuring that its modest height still commands an impressive 360-degree view of the undulating Powys borderlands.
• •Despite the name's morbid translation, the hill is a peaceful, airy spot, usually frequented more by grazing sheep than by walkers heading for the more popular peaks of the Cambrian Mountains to the west.
