• •The name is derived from the Irish Ochtmhór, which translates as 'The Great Height' or 'The Great Breast', a reference to the rounded, swelling profile characteristic of many summits in the Sperrin range.
• •Oughtmore is frequently tackled as part of a high-level horseshoe walk that includes Meenard and Sawel Mountain, the latter being the highest point in County Londonderry and the Sperrins.
• •From the summit, walkers can pick out the glistening waters of Lough Foyle and the Inishowen Peninsula to the north, while the distinctive profile of Slieve Gallion dominates the view to the southeast.
