Inner Hill

Sitting quietly above the Harthope Valley, this grassy Cheviot dome offers an understated escape from the busier trails of its higher neighbors. At 355m, it provides clear, earned views across to the massive bulk of Hedgehope Hill and down the winding course of the Harthope Burn toward Wooler.

• •The hill is often overlooked in favour of the 'Big Two' nearby, but it serves as an excellent vantage point to appreciate the steep, craggy eastern flanks of Hedgehope Hill.
• •It is frequently bagged as part of a lower-level circuit including Brands Hill and Middleton Hill, avoiding the notorious peat hags found on the higher Cheviot plateaus.
• •The 'Inner' prefix in its name likely refers to its position tucked further into the Harthope drainage compared to the lower rises closer to the valley mouth.
• •As a Tump with a modest 355m elevation, it is the sort of summit where you might spend more time checking your map to confirm you have actually arrived than you do catching your breath.
