What does the Peak & Northern Footpaths Society actually do?

Landowners realised that Manchester's factory workers couldn't easily challenge obstructions—nobody was sure where legal rights of way actually were, and taking someone to court required time and money most working people didn't have. Paths that had been used for generations just quietly disappeared.
