Can any mobile network guarantee signal on a UK summit?

No. Coverage varies with exact position, terrain, handset, congestion, maintenance and weather. Check Ofcom and operator maps for the whole route, but treat them as predictions rather than promises.

Can I call 999 or 112 through another network?

A compatible phone will normally try another available UK network for an emergency call if your own is unavailable. It still cannot connect where no compatible network reaches you, so keep an active SIM, tell someone your plans and carry suitable backups.

Will GPS and downloaded maps work without mobile signal?

Yes. A phone can obtain a GPS position without cellular service, and downloaded offline maps can show it. Battery failure, damage or missing downloads can still stop the system, so carry a backup navigation method.
