Where was the Mission: Impossible parachuting scene in the Lake District filmed?

The aerial sequence was filmed in Buttermere Valley during the summers of 2021 and 2022. The valley provided a natural corridor between High Stile, Red Pike, Haystacks, and Grasmoor that was visually dramatic whilst still offering enough room to manoeuvre for the speed-flying and parachuting stunts.

How long does it take to walk around Buttermere lake?

The circuit around Buttermere lake is about four and a half miles and is relatively gentle as Lake District walks go. It's one of the classic walks in the area and offers excellent views of the surrounding fells without requiring specialist equipment.

Did Tom Cruise actually do the flying stunts in Buttermere himself?

Yes, Cruise performed the parachuting and speed-flying stunts himself through Buttermere Valley. The production filmed actual flights through the valley with Cruise threading between mountain slopes at considerable velocity.
