Where was the Narracott farm in War Horse actually filmed?

The farm was Ditsworthy Warren House, a derelict building near Sheepstor on Ringmoor Down in Dartmoor. The production restored the building and added a thatched roof to create the Narracott farm set.

Can you visit the War Horse filming locations on Dartmoor?

The landscape remains as it was, but the farms are working farms and private property. You can visit the general areas like Ringmoor Down and see the tors and moorland that appear in the film, but the farm buildings themselves aren't tourist sites.

Did Spielberg use CGI for the Dartmoor scenes in War Horse?

No, he didn't need to. Dartmoor had changed so little since 1914 that the real landscape, weather, and light did the work—including that final Devon sunset, which was captured in just five shots before the sun disappeared.
