No. As of 8 August 2026, the Mountain Bothies Association says Ryvoan Bothy is closed until further notice after the Glenmore wildfire. The Ryvoan Trail and access to An Lochan Uaine also remain closed, so check official updates and stay away until the closure is lifted.

How far is the walk to Ryvoan Bothy?

Once access reopens, distance depends on the chosen start and route. A commonly described Glenmore circuit including An Lochan Uaine and the optional bothy detour is about 10 km and takes two to three hours; the official 5.8 km Ryvoan Trail stops at the loch, not the bothy.

What facilities and fire rules apply at Ryvoan Bothy?

Ryvoan is a small, basic shelter with a multi-fuel stove and no local fuel; space is not guaranteed. Never cut live wood, and Cairngorms National Park bylaws prohibit campfires and barbecues outdoors from 1 April to 30 September.
