About Windy Hill
Rising above the northern coastline of Arran, this modest Marilyn offers a quieter alternative to the island's jagged Corbetts. The terrain is largely pathless heather and grass, rewarding the short, steep pull with a clear outlook over Loch Ranza toward the Kintyre Peninsula and the distant Paps of Jura.

Did You Know?
- •While many Arran peaks bear ancient Gaelic names, this hill’s simple English title accurately reflects its exposed position overlooking the Kilbrannan Sound.
- •Despite its height of only 278 metres, it is classified as a Marilyn because its summit drops away significantly on all sides, giving it more prominence than many higher peaks.
- •The summit provides one of the best perspectives of Arran’s 'Sleeping Warrior' profile, looking south toward the serrated ridges of Caisteal Abhail and Cir Mhòr.
- •On a clear day, the view north extends past the islands of Bute and Great Cumbrae to the mountains of the southern Highlands.
- •In keeping with its name, any attempt to use a paper map at the summit without a firm grip is likely to result in a long walk toward the Kintyre coast.
