About Watch Knowe
Rising above the eastern shores of Megget Reservoir, this rounded Southern Upland summit offers a quiet, grassy ascent in the heart of the Moffat Hills. Though often overshadowed by the bulk of neighbouring Broad Law, it provides a superb vantage point over the Yarrow Valley and the deep blue waters of the reservoir below.

Did You Know?
- •The name is derived from the Scots 'knowe,' meaning a small hill or mound, while 'watch' suggests its historical use as a lookout point, likely monitoring movement through the strategic Yarrow and Megget valleys.
- •It sits on a high ridge that connects the massive Broad Law massif to the lower hills overlooking St Mary’s Loch, making it a common stop for walkers completing a circular route around the Megget Reservoir.
- •The summit offers a particularly clear, top-down view of the Megget Dam and the long stretch of the reservoir, framed by the steep slopes of Dead Forle and Cramalt Craig.
- •At 605 metres, it misses the Graham classification by a mere five metres, ensuring it remains blissfully ignored by peak-baggers in a hurry to reach more prestigious summits nearby.
