About Tigh Mor na Seilge

Situated on the eastern arm of Carn Ghluasaid, this Munro Top overlooks the expanse of Loch Cluanie. It offers a rugged, high-level traverse through the North West Highlands, where steep, grassy slopes give way to a stony plateau. The summit provides a grandstand view across the glen to the sprawling South Glen Shiel Ridge.

Did You Know?

  • The name translates from Scottish Gaelic as 'Big House of the Hunting', likely referring to a historical stalking shelter or a favoured spot for hunting parties in the vast deer forests above Glen Moriston.
  • Although it comfortably exceeds the 3,000ft threshold, it is classified as a Munro Top rather than a Munro, as it is considered an eastern shoulder of its parent peak, Carn Ghluasaid.
  • From the summit, the view south is dominated by the long, undulating skyline of the South Glen Shiel Ridge, with the pointed profile of Creag a' Mhaim standing out clearly across the glen.
  • Despite its name promising a 'big house', the only architecture at the summit is a small stone cairn, offering significantly less protection from a Highland squall than the Gaelic name might suggest.
