About Creag Mhor

Rising steeply above the western shores of Loch Lubnaig, this rugged Graham offers a quieter alternative to the nearby Trossachs peaks. While commercial forestry cloaks the lower flanks, the heather-clad upper slopes provide a fine, rocky crest with clear views towards Ben Ledi and the Arrochar Alps.

Did You Know?

  • The name is derived from the Scottish Gaelic 'Creag Mhòr', which translates simply as the 'Great Crag', a nod to the rocky outcrops that define its upper reaches.
  • The summit trig pillar provides an excellent vantage point for viewing the Highland Boundary Fault. To the south, the distinctive profile of Ben Ledi is prominent, while the massive bulks of Ben Vorlich and Stuc a' Chroin dominate the eastern horizon.
  • Though often climbed as a standalone objective from Strathyre, the hill is frequently linked with the neighbouring Corbett, Beinn Each, via a rugged and often boggy ridge walk over the Bealach nan Corp.
  • Despite its status as a Marilyn with significant relative height, the hill is frequently confused with its much larger Munro namesake located further north in Glen Lochay.
