Did You Know?
- •The name is derived from the Welsh 'Bryn', meaning hill, and 'Glas', which can translate as green, blue, or grey; in this landscape, it refers to the verdant, grassy character of the slopes compared to the darker heather found higher up the range.
- •It serves as a physical gateway for walkers heading south from the village of Llanuwchllyn toward the more dramatic high ground of Aran Benllyn and Aran Fawddwy.
- •The summit offers an excellent vantage point to view the 'Bala Fault', a major geological feature that created the deep trough now occupied by Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake).
- •While the name suggests a pleasant green mound, the reality for much of the year involves navigating significant patches of peat bog and tussocks that test the waterproofing of even the best hillwalking boots.
